This page has a list of local shops in Tayside that stock outdoor gear including some that might surprise you. It also features some on line shops. To research for the perfect piece of kit there is another page that lists virtually all manufacturers of outdoor clothing and equipment.

56 Degrees North. Fort Street (on a corner), Broughty Ferry. tel 01382 480294. Gives club members 10% discount. Stocks Paramo, Keela, Snugpack, Vaude, Buffalo and many more. Small but friendly.

AKtive 8. A Karrimor outlet store in Edinburgh. Banks of Perth. 29 St John Street, Perth. Ski specialist but some walking stuff too.

Blacks. On the corner of the Seagate and Commercial Street, Dundee. Mainly clothing, sleeping bags and boots.

Buachaille.com. On line site that compares prices in different sites. Also has reviews.

Craigdon Mountain Sports. 25 - 29 Kinnoull Street Perth. Huge shop on two floors has everything you need for the hills. Also lots of snowboarding and skiing gear.

Ernest press. Books on line

Milletts. Generally low cost gear, Regatta etc., but good for boots. In Dundee at 23 Cowgate (opposite the Wellgate Centre) and in Perth at 182-186 High Street. Also has an on line store.

Mountain Supplies, - This website seems to be inactive at the moment - South Street, Perth (next to Post Office). Where I buy most of my gear. Also has a tent warehouse near Matalan. Has branches in Aviemore and Braemar . The Aviemore branch does a good cheap breakfast.Mountain Warehouse. A factory outlet in the Factory Outlet Units (Sterling Mills) at Tillicoultrey. Has lots of bargains, some odd colours and sizes and last years models. Has Karrimor and other well known brands. There is also a good Nike outlet here so this place is worth a visit. Great view of the Ochils from the car park, so take your boots and gear for an afternoon's walk after doing the shopping.

Needle Sports: great on line shop, and this site is also an excellent resourse for gear and other outdoor information. Highlt recommended.

Tog 24 Outdoor clothing at discount prices. The Dundee shop is now closed.

TK Maxx. Gallacher Retail Park, Dundee and Retail Park, Perth. Often has great bargains usually of last year's clothing range and garish colours. Sometimes has Sprayway and Regatta gear. Stock varies seasonally and from week to week. You have to rake. Also good for handbags..and "Ned-wear"

WildDay On line shopping. Has a good reputation.
